Telecare
Telecare helps people stay safe and independent at home by providing a way to signal for help if needed. It’s useful for anyone who might need support, including older adults, disabled people, and those who feel vulnerable.
What is telecare?
Telecare systems are sometimes called ‘Carecall’ or ‘Lifeline’. They usually include a base unit that connects to your phone line or the internet, and a call button you can wear as a pendant, wrist strap, or brooch.
If you need help, pressing the button connects you to a response centre. A responder will assess your situation and decide what help you need.
Types of telecare
- Telephony service: When you press the button, the provider will call a relative, carer, or emergency services.
- Responder service: Some providers have trained staff (responders) who can visit your home and help in person.
Extra equipment
You can add other devices to your telecare system for extra support. These may include:
- Falls detectors
- Smoke alarms
- Sensor pads
- Sensor lights
- Door sensors
Find examples of equipment on the Living Made Easy website.
New products are released regularly, so it’s worth shopping around for the best option for your needs.
Choosing a telecare provider
