Residents aged 50 and over are invited to join a series of weekly music and movement classes taking place at Cannock and Heath Hayes libraries.

The ‘Remember Rhythm’ sessions are designed to help people improve their health and wellbeing, stay active and improve their confidence.

The free music and exercise classes are delivered in a relaxed and welcoming environment and are led by a talented guitarist/singer and an experienced dancer. They guide attendees through gentle, mostly seated exercises using a variety of colourful props.

The sessions take place on Thursdays, 10.30am to 11.30am at Heath Hayes Library and from 12noon to 1pm at Cannock Library. Classes will run until Thursday 5 March, except for Thursday 19 February.

Hayley Coles, Cabinet Member for Communities and Culture at Staffordshire County Council, said:

“You’re never too old for a bit of rhythm and rhyme.

“These gentle sessions are designed for older adults and are a brilliant way to help people stay active, improve their emotional wellbeing  and confidence with a great opportunity to meet others. They’re informal and friendly and people are also welcome to just listen and chat if they are not comfortable taking part in the activities straight away.

“Supporting the health and wellbeing of residents is a key priority for the county council and it’s great to see libraries helping make a real difference to people’s lives.”

People are welcome to just ‘pop in’ or book their free place by contacting the relevant library below:
