Staff at Burton Library are ready to welcome families to a morning filled with Halloween-themed treats and games.

Burton Library is hosting a family-friendly Halloween party, jam-packed with treats, stories and games.

The free party, taking place from 9am until 12 noon on Friday 31 October, will feature a Halloween Book Treasure Hunt and a free raffle for anyone with a library card.

The event is being co-hosted by Emily McGroggan, a reading ambassador with the National Literacy Trust who is using her platform as winner of this year’s International United Miss United Kingdom Pre-Teen pageant to promote reading.

Emily said:

“Reading is important. It makes you smarter, healthier and so much more. Reading improves imagination and takes you on amazing journeys.”

Hayley Coles, Cabinet Member for Communities and Culture at Staffordshire County Council, said:

“Events like this are a fantastic way to bring families together and inspire children to discover the magic of books and reading.

“Our libraries are vibrant community spaces where imagination comes to life and this event promises a morning of spooktacular family fun.  It’s one of many that our libraries host and I’d encourage everyone to come along.

“If you’re not already a member of the library, you can join on the day and take advantage of hundreds of other activities, services and events.”

Staffordshire libraries have a huge programme of events and activities running all year round and people can find out more by visiting their webpage.

Booking is not required for this event and people can find out more by contacting the library on 01283 881208 or email burton.library@staffordshire.gov.uk.
