One of the Age of Penda Saxon re-enactors that will be at the history fair
Families and history lovers are invited to Perton Library for a journey back in time at its annual history fair.
The fair, taking place on 4 October from 10am until 3pm, will offer a range of free and family-fun activities.
More than 20 stands and exhibits will be available on the day including the Age of Penda Saxon re-enactors, who will set up camp and stage battles throughout the day. Hands-on activities and exhibits that delve into Ancient Egyptian history with re-enactor Liz Scott and fun-filled workshops on the Titanic with Captain Sean.
Hayley Coles, Cabinet Member for Culture and Communities at Staffordshire County Council, said:
“Staffordshire is steeped in history and this is the perfect opportunity for families and those looking for a great day out to learn more about our county.
“From ancient artefacts to modern-day discoveries, it’s a chance to get hands-on with history, meet passionate experts and uncover the stories that shaped Staffordshire and beyond. Remember, some activities are drop-in and some need to be booked, so make sure you save your place. I urge everyone to come and visit.”

- Readings by Former Staffordshire Poet Laureate Bert Flitcroft
- Live Shakespeare performances
- ‘Something Old, Something New’ Filming screenings and activities
- Activities and exhibitions hosted by the Midlands’ RAF Museum
- Expert advice from Midland Ancestors on tracing your family tree
- An archaeological showcase from the Archaeology in Mind Group
