Lower Milehouse Lane
A major highways improvement scheme is due to start in Newcastle on Monday 9 June.
The £455,000 scheme is being delivered by Staffordshire County Council and is expected to take around six weeks to complete.
Work will include the resurfacing of Lower Milehouse Lane junction, including the approaches and exits from Douglas Road to approximately 100 meters west of Wilmot Drive. Crews will also be fixing damaged drainage, kerbing and ironwork and installing additional tactile crossings to help improve safety for pedestrians.
To make sure the work can be carried out safely, a combination of temporary lane and road closures will be in operation, along with a few overnight closures for the resurfacing. A signed diversion will be in place during the closures and access to businesses and residents in the works area will be maintained where possible.
Peter Mason, Cabinet Member for Strategic Highways at Staffordshire County Council, said:
“This is another important highways scheme for Newcastle and part of wider plans to improve roads right across the county.
“It’s a busy junction but crews will be doing all they can to minimise any disruption and get the work done as quickly and safely as possible. I’d like to thank people in advance for their patience while this important work takes place.”
