Voters have until 5pm on 23 April to apply for Photo ID, if they don't already have an acceptable form of identification.

All voters on 1 May will need photographic identification at their polling station.

Driving licences, passports and bus passes are among acceptable forms of identification.

But anyone who doesn’t have an acceptable form of photographic identification must apply for their free alternative by 5pm on Wednesday 23 April.

Pat Flaherty, Returning Officer for Staffordshire County Council, said:

Since May 2023 the Government has required every voter to present an acceptable form of photo ID when they turn up at the polling station – otherwise they are not allowed to vote.

If, for any reason, you haven’t got the right form of identification you have until 5pm next Wednesday, April 23, to sort it out.”

All Staffordshire County Council’s 62 seats are being contested on Thursday, 1 May by 298 candidates.

Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm.

Results from the Lichfield, Newcastle, South Staffordshire and Tamworth areas will be declared overnight, while results from the remainder will be known on Friday, 2 May.
