Alternatives recycling centres are available.
Operations have been suspended at a household waste recycling centre because of further subsidence problems.
Wombourne HWRC will remain closed while more work is carried out to investigate the situation.
Residents in the area have other options: those living in certain postcode areas of South Staffordshire can use the recycling centre in Stourbridge, while others can use the site at Bilbrook.
David Atkinson, Assistant Director for Connectivity and Sustainability at Staffordshire County Council, said:
We regret the inconvenience because we want to provide the best possible service to the public, but safety comes first.
We do have an alternative arrangement in place with Dudley Council, for which we’re grateful, so depending on where they live residents can travel to Stourbridge or Bilbrook, or use ‘bring banks’ in their communities.”
Dudley Council’s HWRC in Birmingham Street, Stourbridge, DY8 1JE, is only available for South Staffordshire residents from specific postcode areas. Eligible addresses are listed on our Wombourne Recycling Centre page.
Visits there must be booked in advance with 10 minute slots available through an online booking system. Vans, pick-ups, trailers, or trade waste will not be accepted.
Bilbrook HWRC can found at Pendeford Mill Lane, Codsall, WV8 1RR, and accepts most forms of household waste. Details can be found on our Bilbrook Recycling Centre page.
Wombourne HWRC partially reopened last month after being closed for several weeks due to subsidence. However, problems have reappeared and the site closed again.
