Weston Park Woodland Adventure Playground
Families looking for fun filled outdoor adventures over the February half term holiday, are being reminded that there’s plenty on offer in Staffordshire.
Whether it’s a visit to a country park, trip to a farm, animal attraction, theme park or a historic garden, the county has ample choice.
At the National Adventure Farm in Burton, there’s lots to enjoy, as they enter the most magical season of the farming calendar. Families can say hello to new arrivals in the animal barn and on the ewe maternity ward. Visitors can also have a go at feeding the baby lambs and try their hand at seed planting and scarecrow making. In Penkridge, families can also meet some of the newest, cutest babies at Lower Drayton Farm, namely the lambs and ewes, and then let off some steam in the huge indoor and outdoor play areas.
Statfold Country Park near Tamworth offers train rides, taking visitors on a scenic route around the fields of the Country Park. Whilst Toby's Barn Soft Play is sure to keep the little ones entertained to let off some steam!
Wild about Brampton provides an indoor and outdoor parent/carer and children's group at Newcastle’s Brampton Park and Museum. Run by Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, people taking part could be bug hunting, marvelling at magic, or exploring a story. Biddulph Grange Garden features walking routes that will transport you to a Chinese garden, Italian garden & Scottish Glen, designed by James Bateman and managed by the National Trust.
Families can join in with Chinese New Year themed activities at both Weston Park and the Trentham Estate. Make your own Chinese lanterns and take part in the lantern parade at Weston Park in South Staffordshire. Follow the Chinese New Year Zodiac trail around Trentham Gardens and explore the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac.
The Peak District, Cannock Chase and the National Forest all offer beautiful scenery, stunning views and lots to explore. Choose from a range of family walks, safe off-road cycle routes, areas for dog walking, bird watching and nature trails.
In Leek, families can say “hello” to the polar bears, penguins and wallabies in a truly unique and immersive animal experience at Peak Wildlife Park. And for teenagers, Cannock Chase Forest has some of the best mountain bike routes in the region. Enjoy a selection of green, blue, red and black trails, suitable for all levels of ability.
The National Memorial Arboretum in the National Forest has something for all ages whatever the weather, from indoor cinema and interactive storytelling sessions to outdoor trails in the spring woodland.
