With the holiday period just around the corner, people still in need of the flu and Covid-19 vaccinations are being urged to get jabbed as soon as possible to ensure they’re protected during Christmas and New Year.
More than 570,000 people in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent have stepped up for their vaccines, keeping both themselves and the wider community safe. With the risk of Covid-19 variants lurking, pregnant women, older residents and vulnerable groups must remain vigilant. A full list of eligible groups can be found on the NHS website.
All eligible residents are encouraged to book their flu and Covid-19 vaccines as soon as possible. People can book their vaccine online via the NHS website or through the app, call 119 or drop-in to one of the walk-in clinics across Staffordshire, where you can get vaccinated without an appointment. Staffordshire County Council’s Cabinet Support Member for Public Health and Integrated Care, Paul Northcott, echoed the call for people to get protected ahead of the festive season:
“As the weather turns colder, respiratory viruses spread more easily especially over the festive and new year period.
Nobody wants to miss out on the festive celebrations with their friends and family this winter and the vaccines are our best form of defence against flu and Covid-19.
I urge all those eligible to get vaccinated as soon as possible. There are loads of walk-in sites open across the county, making it easier than ever to get your winter vaccinations.”
