Art students from Stafford College next to their art display in Staffordshire Place One
Students from Stafford College have created a wall of positive messages to mark World Mental Health Day on Tuesday 10 October.
The display, which can now be viewed at Stafford Library, is a riot of colour and features students’ simple but powerful messages on how people can look after their mental wellbeing.
The wall of messages is part of Staffordshire County Council’s ‘Talk Suicide’ campaign, which aims to bring local individuals, organisations and businesses together to help prevent suicide.
As part of the campaign, the county council offers free online suicide prevention training.
These sessions are designed to help people recognise signs that someone may be at risk, train them to intervene with four simple steps and inform them about local support services.
Cabinet member for Health & Care at Staffordshire County Council, Julia Jessel, said:
“Our goal is to improve mental health and wellbeing across Staffordshire.
The beautiful World Mental Health Day display put together by Stafford College students is a powerful reminder of the small things we can do to take care of ourselves and those around us.
We need more people to be aware of the signs that someone is at risk of suicide so we can get them the support they need. I urge individuals, businesses, clubs and organisations across Staffordshire to please sign up for the online suicide prevention training. It’s free and the knowledge saves lives.”
