£200,000 highways improvements for Newcastle

A £200,000 highways scheme to improve a busy junction in Newcastle is set to start on Monday 17 July.
Staffordshire County Council’s highways teams will be carrying out the work on the A34, Liverpool road at the junction by the entrance to the Sainsbury’s superstore.
The scheme will include road and ironwork repairs, resurfacing and new road markings and is expected to take five nights to complete. For the safety of crews and the public the road will be closed between 8pm and 6am. A signed diversion will be in place throughout the works.
David Williams, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport at Staffordshire County Council said:
“This scheme is just one of many we are carrying out to improve journeys across Staffordshire.
“This is an important scheme for the town which will prolong the life of the road and our crews will be doing their best to get the work done as efficiently as possible. To make sure the work can be carried out safely, overnight closures are required with a signed diversion in place. I’d like to thank people in advance for bearing with us through the duration of these works.”
