People enjoying an Everyone Health Staffordshire fitness class

People in Cannock looking to be healthier and lose weight are invited to join Everyone Health Staffordshire for their new classes starting from Monday 27th March.

The classes, taking place every Monday between 2pm and 4pm, are at the Avon Business and Leisure Centre on Avon Road in the town.

People are welcome to drop in before the classes to book their place or to speak to the staff on hand for tips on staying healthy.

The classes are free for anyone with a BMI (Body mass index)  of 30 plus, or less if they have other conditions.  People can work out their BMI and read more about it on the Everyone Health Staffordshire website.

Sessions include 45 minutes of nutritional advice and 45 minutes of light exercise, for creating long-term healthy habits.

The free classes form part of the Better Health Staffordshire campaign, being delivered by Staffordshire County Council and health partner Everyone Health Staffordshire.

Paul Northcott, Cabinet Support Member for Public Health and Integrated Care at Staffordshire County Council said:

“Maintaining a healthy weight and staying active are key to a healthy and happy life.

“With more people working from home and the conveniences of modern life, many of us are moving less, which isn’t great for our health and means we can put on weight.  But losing just 5% of your body weight can reduce the risk of heart disease and do so much for both your physical and mental wellbeing.

“It’s never too late to make changes to help improve your health and manage your weight better.  And remember, you’re not on your own. There’s lots of great advice and support available, so please contact Everyone Health Staffordshire or come along and join one of the new classes.”

Kimberley Yeung from Everyone Health Staffordshire said:

“We’re delighted to continue working with Staffordshire County Council and to extend our reach in Cannock.

“We already run a class on Thursday which is fully booked.  So, to be able to secure the Avon Business and Leisure on Mondays, means we can offer the service to more people.  For anyone that can’t attend in person, there are virtual sessions also available throughout the week.  Our service is designed to help people create long-term healthy eating habits through behaviour changes.

“All of our classes are delivered by Registered Nutritionists and supported by Physical Activity Specialists, who can also tailor exercises from standing to chair based for anyone that needs them.”
