Big weekend of jabs for Staffordshire

Posted on Friday 25th June 2021

People in Staffordshire are being encouraged to get their Covid-19 vaccine during a Big Weekend of walk-in vaccinations.

The national NHS push to get as many people as possible vaccinated against Covid-19 will take place from Saturday 26 to Monday 28 June at various sites across Staffordshire.

All sites will be offering first doses to people aged 18 or over on a first come-first-jabbed basis without the need to book an appointment.

Some sites will also offer second doses to people over 40, health and care workers, unpaid carers and people at higher clinical risk, from eight weeks after their first dose.

Cabinet Support Member for Public Health and Integrated Care, Dr Johnny McMahon, urged all adults who haven’t received their vaccine to take full advantage of the walk-ins.

Johnny said:

“Whatever big plans people may have this weekend, I’d urge anybody eligible and still waiting to get their vaccine to take advantage of the NHS Big Weekend. This is an absolutely fantastic opportunity to speed up the vaccination programme in Staffordshire and get more adults their first dose, and get eligible groups fully vaccinated.

“The sooner everyone is vaccinated the sooner we can begin to look to a future where we can live with this virus without the need for restrictions on our lives and freedoms.”

Vaccination sites will include Stafford’s Kingston Centre, the Pirelli Stadium in Burton-on-Trent, Whitemoor Lakes in Lichfield, and a number of GP practices and other sites.

A full list of the walk-in Staffordshire sites, dates and times can be found on the NHS Midlands and Lancashire CSU website.

Anyone who has already booked an appointment for a first or second jab should stick with the appointment. People can also book an appointment through the national booking system online or by calling 119.
