i54 South Staffordshire western extension

Work to develop an extension at one of Staffordshire’s leading business sites has moved to another phase.

The i54 South Staffordshire Western Extension project has been continuing safely through the Covid-19 period and the on-site access road is now complete.

From Monday July 13 the project team will begin work on the extension site drainage into the nearby River Penk. In order for this phase of the project to be carried out safely, Penfedord Hall Lane will need to be closed on weekdays during the day for six weeks. This closure will be in place from next Monday until Friday August 25 between 7am to 5pm. A signed diversion will be in place.

On site work is continuing to build platforms for the new industrial units, introduce utilities and create landscaping. The project is scheduled to be completed in late summer 2021.

Staffordshire County Council’s economic growth leader Mark Winnington said:

Work is continuing at pace on the i54 South Staffordshire Western Extension and has done throughout the lockdown period, with the project team adhering to all necessary safety guidelines.

This phase will be completed late in the summer and we’d like to thank people who use the affected road for their patience while work is carried out.

The western extension will bring hundreds more jobs to the area in addition to additional private investment. We’re also pleased with the environmental enhancements we’re bringing in, including those to the nearby Pendeford Mill Nature Reserve.”
