Fees and Charges from 1 April 2023

The Staffordshire Record Office's onsite public service have now temporarily closed. This is to enable preparatory surveys to take place prior to construction of the Staffordshire History Centre. Copying services

Photocopies or small scanning orders

Orders identified and placed by personal visitors to reading rooms

• EU and non-EU: Black and white or colour £1.50 per copy.

Postage charges at current rates.

Orders placed by post/email:

• EU: £5 incl. UK 2nd class postage for first copy. Successive copies on the same order: £1.50 (b/w or colour). Additional postage will be charged on UK orders exceeding 100 grams, or if 1st class post is requested. Postage on international orders will be charged at current rates.

• Non-EU: £5.00 for first copy. Successive copies on the same order: £1.50 (b/w or colour). Postage on international orders will be charged at current rates.

Orders for copies of wills:

• EU: £8.00 incl. 2nd class postage.
  
  
• Non-EU: £8.00 plus airmail postage at current rates.

Prints from microform

Self-service in reading rooms:

£1.50 per copy.

Orders placed by post/email:

• EU: £5 incl. UK 2nd class postage for first copy. Successive copies on the same order: £1.50 (b/w or colour). Additional postage will be charged on UK orders exceeding 100 grams. Postage on international orders will be charged at current rates.

Computer print out

A4: 20p per copy (Staffordshire)

A4: 10p per copy (Stoke-on-Trent)

Photography

Permits for use of hand held camera

• Daily permit: £8.00
  
  
• Annual Permit: £50

Specialist private photography

Proportion of staff time required to facilitate photography, based on current research fee scale. 

In-house photographic service fees incl: large scanning orders

£36 per hour for all time spent processing your order. Images will usually be provided by FTP server download. 

Commercial photography of microfilm handling fee

• EU: £50

We also reserve the right to charge in addition a proportion of research fee in the case of complex orders. 

Research fees

Standard research fee

£36 per hour. First hours fee to include up to 4 copies and second class postage. Thereafter charged in half hour blocks. UK 1st class and non-EU postage charged extra. 

Quick research fee

£9.00 will be charged for a 15 minute look-up of a single entry from a record. This is to include one copy and postage. UK first class postage and non-EU postage will be charged extra. 

Certification fee

£18 per document.

Search for own baptism/marriage entry

• £14.00 to include copy and postage
  
  
• £9.00 for unsuccessful search. 

Transcription fee for documents identified from online indexes

£8.00 per transcript. 

Reproduction facility fees

Commercial publication or exhibition

• This includes websites and excludes eBooks and DVDs:
  £60 for single item; £35 for each additional item.
  
  
• This includes websites, eBooks and DVDs:
  £80 for a single item; £40 for additional item; plus £60 per order for e-books

Community/academic publication or exhibition

£20 for a single item; £7.50 each additional item.

TV broadcast and onsite filming and publishing through the world wide web

£260 per item; plus £110 for each subsequent item; plus staff time and travel expenses if staff are involved.
