Speeding and road safety in Scot Hay

I refer to the petition, signed by local residents regarding speeding and road safety concerns in Scot Hay.  I can advise you that receipt of the petition will be reported to Cllr Helen Fisher, Cabinet Member for Highways & Transport.

The County Council takes road safety extremely seriously and sites are regularly monitored to target strategic resources at locations that provide the potential for the greatest accident reduction.  In addition, local community concerns will be considered by the County Councillor for inclusion in their Divisional Highway Programme (DHP).

I understand that the local County Councillor Ann Beech is aware of the community’s concerns in relation to traffic speeds and has discussed the issues with the Community Infrastructure Liaison Manager for the area as part of her DHP. The Staffordshire Safer Roads Partnership (SSRP), which already routinely undertakes speed enforcement in Scott Hay, have been asked to carry out additional enforcement activities in this locality.

In the meantime residents here may find the SSRP website www.staffssaferroads.co.uk of interest as it offers advice and guidance on enforcement and education schemes, which give communities the resources and confidence to address their concerns directly.

Should you require further information regarding your petition please contact Dave Greatbatch on 01538 483022.
