Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate
The Department of Health and Social Care have launched a new Level 2 qualification for adult social care employees. For those both new to care and those already working in the sector, this qualification is a great opportunity that will open the door to further learning and career progression.
The Level 2 Adult Social Care qualification is an accredited qualification designed to provide a baseline standard to care, reduce the need for repeat training and give recognition to our care workforce for the professional career that it is.
The Learning and Development Support Scheme will feature a digital online claims service, enabling adult social care employers to claim funding for specific training courses and qualifications on behalf of eligible care staff.
Funding will be available for eligible courses and qualifications that have been paid for in financial year 2025 to 2026, as well as those paid for in financial year 2024 to 2025. Regardless of the financial year in which the training course or qualification was paid for, a 3 month claims window applies:
- for training courses - claims must be submitted within 3 months of course completion.
- for qualifications - an initial ‘qualification start’ claim must be submitted within 3 months of the qualification being paid for and started (whichever is the later date) and the ‘qualification completion’ claim must be submitted within 3 months of qualification completion.
The approved course list for the Learning and Development Support Scheme includes the Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate Qualification. Eligible employers can claim up to £1500 per qualification for the Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate on behalf of eligible care staff.
