Are you a healthy weight?

Check your risk

Measuring your waist is a good way of checking whether you are at an increased risk of developing heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes. All you need is a tape measure and these simple instructions.

A Body Mass Index (BMI) calculator is a way of checking whether you are a healthy weight.  For more information on using a BMI calculator and it’s limitations please visit Check your Body Mass Index - NHS

If you’re aged 40 to 74 with no pre-existing conditions, you can have an NHS health check. Think of it as a midlife MOT, to help you know more about your health and how to keep fit and well. It could stop you getting heart disease, diabetes, kidney disease or having a stroke.

To find out if you are at high risk of Type 2 Diabetes use the know your risk of Type 2 diabetes tool. Staffordshire residents at high risk of Type 2 diabetes may be eligible for free support from the NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme.
