Booth Asset Management Ltd. have submitted a planning application for a revised, viable, restoration scheme to achieve long term stability of slopes involving the importation of inert materials.

Cauldon Quarry Complex, Yelsway Lane, Cauldon (ref: SCC/22/0136/FULL-ES)

 Aggregate Industries UK Limited have submitted a planning application for the consolidation of permissions for the winning and working of limestone and shale together with extensions of the limestone and shale quarries; an extension of time for the winning and working of remaining limestone and shale reserves; the deposit of mineral wastes; and the continued use of processing and ancillary plant.The application is accompanied by an Environmental Statement.

Willington Quarry, Castleway Lane, Eggington, Derbyshire, DE65 6BW (ref: SCC/22/0107/FULL-ES)

Cemex UK Operations Ltd is applying to Staffordshire County Council (and Derbyshire County Council) for planning permission for the phased extraction of approximately 600,000 tonnes of sand and gravel as a southern extension in Staffordshire to Willington Quarry in Derbyshire. The application is accompanied by an Environmental Statement.

Note: The reference number for the planning application submitted to Derbyshire County Council is CM9/0922/18. 

Newbold Quarry Lichfield Road, Barton Under Needwood - Northern Extension (ref: SCC/22/0068/FULL-ES)

Aggregate Industries UK Limited have submitted a planning application for a northern extension to Newbold Quarry for the winning and working of sand and gravel with restoration to water based recreation and nature conservation using imported inert material with the continued use of existing access, site offices, processing plant, silt lagoons and ancillary infrastructure. The application is accompanied by an Environmental Statement.

Weeford Quarry, Lichfield (ref: L.20/06/810 MW)

H D Ricketts Ltd. and Cemex UK Ltd., have submitted a planning application for the continuation of sand extraction with progressive restoration to agriculture/ biodiversity using recycled inert materials together with the retention and enhancement of existing on-site processing, office and workshop facilities, erection of a new ready-mix concreting facility and importation of aggregates for blending and associated works. The application is accompanied by an Environmental Statement.

Rugeley Quarry, Stafford Brook Road, Rugeley (ref: CH.20/04/709 M)

Cemex UK Operations Limited have applied to not comply with (to vary) conditions of planning permission no. CH.00/0577 & S.400/18 to revise the phasing of the winning and working of sand and gravel.

A similar application was submitted in 2016 and approved by the Planning Committee in 2018 (ref. CH.16/05/709 M). The decision has however been held pending the completion of a legal agreement. The applicant is now seeking to revise and supersede the earlier application.

Whiston Hall Golf Club, Black Lane, Whiston  (ref: SCC/21/0033/FULL) - appeal (allowed).

Whistonhall Golf Club Ltd submitted a planning application for the remodelling of existing golf course to improve on-site water management, accessibility and player safety through the importation of engineering materials to regrade and re-profile part of the existing golf course, with the construction of new attenuation and irrigation ponds, erection of an associated pump house and proposed landscaping and tree planting.

Hurst Quarry, Biddulph, ST8 7RU (ref: SM.15/02/101 MW)

Land Recovery Ltd submitted an application for the Periodic Review (under the Environment Act 1995) of the mineral planning permission SM.EA/4.

  • 7 December 2023 - approved by the Planning Committee
  • 12 December 2023 - Decision Notice issued

Poplars Landfill Site Anaerobic Digestion Facility, Lichfield Road, Cannock, WS11 8NQ (ref: SCC/22/0104/FULL-ES).

Biffa Waste Services Ltd have submitted a planning application to vary conditions 1 (approved plans), 4 (cessation date), 5 (site clearance), 6 (expiry of permission), 30 (storage and management of digestate material) and 32 (surface water drainage) of planning permission CH.13/09/721 MW.

  • 6 April 2023 - approved by the Planning Committee, subject to consultation with the Secretary of State at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities and conditions.
  • 2 May 2023 - The Secretary of State at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities decided not to call in the application.
  • 25 May 2023 - planning permission issued.

Uttoxeter Quarry, Spath, Uttoxeter, ST14 5AP (ref: SCC/21/0047/FULL-ES)

Aggregate Industries UK Limited have submitted a planning application for the importation and temporary storage of limestone scalping with the erection and use of an aggregate washing plant.

  • 1 December 2022 - approved by the Planning Committee, subject to conditions and a Section 106 Legal Agreement.
  • 8 March 2024 - as the legal agreement has not yet been completed, the planning permission has not yet been issued.

Poplars Landfill Site, Lichfield Road, Cannock, WS11 8NQ (ref: SCC/22/0021/VOC-ES)

Biffa Waste Services Ltd have submitted a planning application to vary conditions 2 (approved plans), 3 (finished levels) and 23 (restoration and aftercare) of permission CH.446/88 (as amended by CH.446/88/721 MW D10 (revised restoration scheme) and CH.446/88 PWA (4) D3 (phasing)) to relocate landfill void space, to revise the restoration profile and surface water management, and to update the phasing of the operations.

  • 1 December 2022 - approved by the Planning Committee, subject to conditions and a Section 106 Legal Agreement. 
  • 17 May 2023 - Section 106 Legal Agreement was signed
  • 18 May 2023 - planning permission issued

Croxden Quarry, Freehay Road, Cheadle, ST10 1RH (ref: SCC/21/0076/FULL-ES)

Tarmac Trading Limited have submitted a planning application for a lateral (northern) extension to extract a further 4.65 million tonnes of sand and gravel and a consolidating application covering all mineral extraction operations.

  • 1 December 2022 - approved by the Planning Committee, subject to conditions and a Section 106 Legal Agreement.
  • 23 August 2023 - Section 106 Legal Agreement was signed
  • 31 August 2023 - planning permission issued

Saredon Hill Quarry, Saredon Road, Little Saredon, WV10 7LJ (ref: SCC/21/0070/FULL-ES)

NRS Saredon Aggregates Limited have submitted a planning application for the winning and working of sand and gravel within a southern extension to the quarry, with restoration to agriculture, and nature conservation by backfilling with inert waste or other inert material, and the use of the existing access, site offices, processing plant, and silt lagoons.

  • 6 October 2022 - approved by the Planning Committee, subject to conditions  and a Section 106 Legal Agreement.
  • 8 March 2023 - as the legal agreement has not yet been completed, the planning permission has not yet been issued.

Uttoxeter Quarry, Spath, Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, ST14 5AP (ref: SCC/21/0025/FULL-ES)

Aggregate Industries UK Ltd submitted a planning application for the Northern extension to Uttoxeter Quarry for the winning and working of sand and gravel with restoration to agriculture, water based recreation and nature conservation, with the continued use of existing access, site offices, processing plant, silt lagoons and ancillary infrastructure.

  • 4 August 2022 -  approved by the Planning Committee, subject to conditions and a Section 106 Legal Agreement. 
  • 8 March 2023 - as the legal agreement has not yet been completed, the planning permission has not yet been issued.
