Safeguarding and Wellbeing

Staffordshire’s Community Learning Service prioritises safeguarding and wellbeing by ensuring a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Last updated: 19th December

We want everyone who learns with us to feel safe, happy and respected. If you are ever worried about yourself or someone else, we are here to help.

What We Do to Keep You Safe

We promise to:

  • Listen and take any worries seriously.
  • Make sure staff, learners and buildings are safe and respected.
  • Check that all our learning places are healthy, secure and accessible.
  • Use safe recruitment when we hire staff.
  • Make sure our courses are inclusive and safe for everyone.

You should always feel safe where you learn. No one must hurt you or make you feel unsafe.

If You Are Worried

If something is wrong or makes you feel unsafe, please tell our Safeguarding Lead:

If it is an emergency and someone is in danger, call 999.

Prevent – Helping You Stay Safe

Prevent is part of the UK’s plan to keep people safe from extremism.
We help you:

  • Understand what extremism is.
  • Learn how to stay safe online and in your community.
  • Understand British Values, like respect and fairness.

Health and Safety

To help keep everyone safe:

  • Know the building’s fire and evacuation rules.
  • Report accidents or anything unsafe.
  • Do not smoke or vape in learning spaces.
  • Tell your tutor if something worries you.

We also share safety advice for rare emergencies. Remember: Run. Hide. Tell.

Staying Safe Online

Here are simple ways to protect yourself online:

  • Keep your device updated.
  • Use antivirus and a secure Wi‑Fi network.
  • Make strong passwords and keep them private.
  • Lock your device when you’re not using it.
  • Check websites are secure (look for “https”).
  • Keep your social media info private.
  • Be careful with emails from people you don’t know.
  • Don’t click links unless you trust them.
  • Know how to report abuse online.
  • Keep evidence of online bullying and don’t reply to it.
