Environmental planning policy

We refer to relevant planning policies when assessing applications for minerals, waste, and council developments.

Overview

When we decide on planning applications for minerals, waste developments, or the county council’s own projects, we use the relevant planning policies.

These policies are found in the Minerals Local Plan, the Waste Local Plan, or the Local Plan adopted by the Staffordshire borough or district council.

Together, these plans are called “the development plan.”:

The development plan documents adopted by Stoke-on-Trent City Council and the Staffordshire district or borough councils are available on their websites:

Statement of community involvement

Our Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) explains how we ask for people’s and organisations’ views when we make planning policies or deal with planning applications.

The current SCI was agreed by Cabinet on 21 August 2019.
