Staffordshire Youth Offending Service

We help young people aged 10 to 17 who have broken the law or are at risk of doing so.

What we do

Our goals

We work to:

  • Stop young people from offending or reoffending
  • Make sure custody is used safely and only when needed
  • Help victims feel supported and confident

How we work

We use a team approach.
Our staff come from different services like:

  • Police
  • Health
  • Education
  • Social care

This helps us understand each young person’s needs and give the right support.

Our teams

We have:

  • Youth Offending Teams – work with young people who have offended
  • Prevention Team – help young people stay out of trouble
  • Performance and Policy Team – support staff and improve services

What we do with young people

We:

  • Talk to them and their families
  • Find out what led to the offence
  • Look at risks and needs
  • Create a plan to help them change
  • Offer programmes to build skills and confidence

Why it matters

We want young people to:

  • Make better choices
  • Stay safe
  • Learn and grow
  • Take responsibility
  • Avoid future trouble

We also work with courts and other services to make sure young people get the help they need.
