Question:
Further information
Answer:
Communication is crucial! It is considered one of the most important life skills. Being able to communicate helps children to be understood, to share their own thoughts, feelings and needs and good communication and language literacy are linked to better outcomes for children and young people in life.

In Staffordshire and Stoke we understand how important good communication and language development is. We know the difference it can make to children in education, developing friendships and in later life. More than 10% of children and young people have long-term speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) which create barriers to communication or learning in everyday life.

Children living in areas of social disadvantage are at a much higher risk, with around 50% of children starting school with delayed language and other identified SLCN.

We hope you will find the information and resources helpful.
