Schools in Staffordshire
The Children and Lifelong Learning Directorate (C&LL) of Staffordshire County Council funds over 400 schools which employ around 6,000 teachers for some 120,000 primary, middle and secondary school pupils and about 2,500 pupils in special schools and units. We also provide nursery places in schools and classes throughout the County.
All schools are listed in the telephone directory and details about a school's curriculum, activities or facilities are available from the Headteacher. You can also find schools listed in the Schools Directory on the Staffordshire Learning Net.
The Staffordshire Learning Net is a website which we use to communicate with our schools. Some of the links to services on this page will take you to that website.
You can expect C&LL to provide:
Once your child starts school you can expect the school to provide:
- Governors' annual report to parents
- Invitations to parents' meetings
- Information on National Curriculum assessments for your child and the school
- A written report on your child's progress every year
- A detailed "record of achievement" when your child changes or leaves school
- Access to published OFSTED inspection reports on your child's school
(Before your child starts school you can request information including the school prospectus and Governors' annual report to parents.)
Most schools have control of their own budgets, which means most decisions affecting the school can be taken locally by Governors and Headteachers. This includes purchasing specialist services which are provided by CLLD through its various Business Units. Some Business Units also provide a number of services to parents, students and the wider community including Youth and Community Services, Student Support Service, Special Needs and Pupil Support Services.
