Welcome to this edition of your Health and Care update.

 1) I would like to express my gratitude to all those who have submitted a Staffordshire Dignity in Care Award nominations. We reached a milestone of 125 nominations. Your continued efforts and dedication to providing high-quality care are greatly appreciated. Nominations have now closed, and winners will be announced at our evening celebration. 

I would also like to remind you to fill out the questionnaire linked below that will help shape our future communications. 2) New Rapid Flood Guidance trial from the Flood Forecasting Centre 

On 14 May 2024 the Flood Forecasting Centre (FFC) will launch a trial Rapid Flood Guidance (RFG) service. The trial will run until 30 September 2024.  
The Rapid Flood Guidance Service will give short notice updates for England and Wales – to supplement the Flood Guidance Statement. It is for responders who need to make decisions at a timescale of 0 to 6 hour

3) Developing your workforce    

Skills for Care have been working with the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) on phase 2 of the Care workforce pathway, which includes new role categories for deputy managers and registered managers. We want your feedback on some of the content they have created, such as the behaviours, descriptions, knowledge, and skills for these roles. The survey will take 30 minutes and close on Monday 20 May 2024 at 23:59.

4) International Recruitment Resources  

Webinar recordings, presentation slides and the FAQs are now available, from the recent series of CMDT International Recruitment webinars.

5) International Recruitment funding  

The DHSC has announced plans for the International Recruitment Fund 2024/25; the guidance highlights the importance of supporting international recruits where their employer’s sponsorship has been revoked, leaving them without employment.  We will share further information about the local and regional approach shortly.

6) SSOT ICS Staff Psychological Wellbeing Hub  

The Wellbeing Hub have just launched their new website . It enables easier access to confidential support and resources, including workshops available in May and their Financial Wellbeing Toolkit

7) Resilience and Mental Fitness webinar   

Staffordshire County Council have partnered with Wellbeing People as part of our Workplace Health Programme for Staffordshire business.  
In line with Mental Health Awareness week, we are launching the first resilience and mental fitness webinar to help you and your staff to:    

·       Discover effective resilience ‘life-hacks’    

·       Move from poor mental health to mental fitness    

·       Discover how to make stress work for you

 8) Financial Wellbeing Webinars available for ASC Staff 

A series of 9 weekly webinars are available to social care providers. They will provide information and enhance understanding of key financial topics. Delivered by HSBC, in partnership with NHSE, Wednesdays 12:00-13:00:

9) COVID-19 Spring booster vaccination programme  

Our COVID-19 Spring Vaccination Programme is off to a great start locally, so thank you for your support.  To help us keep the momentum going, please ensure consent forms are ready for on-site care home visits, and for people living in the community and your staff, don’t forget about our local vaccination sites.  

10) Data Security and Protection Toolkit 

The Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) is an online self-assessment tool that allows organisations to measure their performance against the National Data Guardian’s 10 data security standards.  

Need support? The Staffordshire Care Association (SARCP) have been commissioned to run workshops to assist providers to complete the DSPT toolkit by the DHSC and Better Security Better Care (BSBC).
