Driving for work

Employees and volunteers undertake a variety of driving activities in the delivery of essential activities. Health and safety law applies to on-the-road work activities and Managers are therefore required to ensure the risks are effectively managed.

Induction and driver checks

Drivers and managers must ensure individuals are competent and authorised to drive for work by holding a valid driving licence for the type of vehicle being used and having appropriate insurance in place, including business use cover for grey fleet vehicles. 

All employees who drive for work are expected to have had their driving licence and insurance details checked on appointment and annually.
