A522 closure diversion routes
16 July to 28 September 2018
The A522 will be completely closed, just west of Tunnicliffe Way, Uttoxeter, 24-hours-a-day from July 16 to September 28.
The closure is to allow the removal of the south embankment which raises the A522 up to the ‘old’ bridge which crosses the A50.
Workers will lower the area by approximately 20 feet, to allow the installation of new drains and utilities. We will also complete the outstanding stretch of the new A522 carriageway, footpaths and street lighting to connect it to the new junction and bridge across the A50.
The slip roads, ‘on’ and ‘off’ the A50, from the A522 New Road roundabout will also be closed at the same time.
Diversions are in place for the duration of the works. Thank you for your understanding. Details are below.
8 October to 14 December 2018
A522 New Road will be completely closed to vehicles in both directions from the Shell garage entrance for approximately 400 yards west towards Tunnicliffe Way from October 8 to December 14.
This is to reconstruct the carriageway, install ducts and pipes for future power, broadband and energy supply needs in the area for housing and industry.
The work will also merge the existing New Road into the new A522 carriageway and finalise footpaths. Pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will have a safe path through the work.
The slip roads, ‘on’ and ‘off’ the A50, from the New Road roundabout will also be closed, as will the Shell garage.
Diversions are in place for the duration of the works and the details are below. Thank you for your understanding.
