Young Drivers

Car

Alarmingly, 32% of people who are killed or seriously injured in a car on Staffordshire's roads are aged between 16 and 25.

So why are young drivers crashing then? Here are some common reasons:

  • Speeding and/or inappropriate speed
  • Drinking & driving
  • Drugs & driving
  • Not wearing seatbelts (especially rear seated passengers)
  • Peer pressure (being encouraged to drive inappropriately by your friends)
  • Over confidence combined with lack of experience

Reducing road casualties amongst young drivers is a key priority for the Road Safety and Sustainable Travel Unit. Take a look for further information on all the initiatives we offer.
