ROF Featherstone consultation
The county council is asking members of the public to take part in a consultation about highways improvements in the Featherstone area.
The former Royal Ordnance Factory (ROF) Featherstone site has been vacant for a number of years. The site has the potential to create up to 2,500 jobs by acting as a cost-effective and well connected location for businesses to locate to.
However improvements to the existing highway network need to be made to manage the expected increase in vehicle movements, including Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGVs). Surrounding roads are likely to become congested if no improvements are made.
A number of options for highways improvements were put together at the feasibility stage. We would like people’s opinions on these through this public consultation before the final preferred option is identified and a planning application is submitted.
Highways improvements – the options
There are nine options, but we believe that not all are viable.
