Approved County Council Contractors
In order to satisfy the Council's Approved List requirements, contractors must:
- Have a current registration with Constructionline the Government's organisation carrying out the pre-qualification of contractors to an agreed national financial and technical standard (with the exception of Health and Safety).
- Have a current registration with The Contractors' Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS) (the Local Authorities' organisation is used to check contractors' Health and Safety compliance).
- Have a Public Liability Insurance level of at least £5 million and Employers Liability Insurance level of at least £10 million, to be maintained at all times.
- Sign-up to the Council's set of prequalification policies by declaration.
The pre-qualified contractors list is now permanently open to new applicants and, therefore, the list will be continually updated as new, and old, contractors meet the current requirements. As a result it is important that a request is made for an updated list each time new tenders are sent out.
Schools requiring contractor information should initially contact their Development Officer or Maintenance Surveyor as details may be available through the responsive maintenance lists. The Capital Development Group may request additional contractor information direct from the Design Consultancy and an appropriate list of contractors can be determined for the project proposed. Alternatively you can contact:
Nikola Sutton: nikola.sutton@entrust-ed.co.uk or 01785 337117
Sarah Smart: sarah.smart@entrust-ed.co.uk
On receipt of tender documents back from the selected contractors, analysis is undertaken by the project Quantity Surveyor who will generate a Tender Analysis report to validate the information and establish the successful contractor based on the selection criteria in place.
Once the recommendations of the report have been accepted and the successful contractor informed, the lead consultant will call a Possession of Site meeting to introduce all parties involved with the project. This meeting will seek to establish and clarify a variety of issues including; contact details for all concerned, a construction programme and any special arrangements required.
