Entry requirements
No prior knowledge or experience is required but an interest in self wellbeing and healthy lifestyles will be an advantage. Potential learners must be willing to commit to all course sessions and be willing to work towards learning aims and complete a learner journal. Learning support is available throughout your course if required.
Course Content
Look at the choices available to maintaining beneficial changes to enjoying a healthy lifestyle – learn about what is a healthy diet, maintaining good hydration, keeping physical active, the importance of good personal hygiene, ensuring you get enough sleep to improving your health. The course offers practical activities to supporting these lifestyle changes involving cooking, walking, gardening, animals and much more.
Learning methods
Face to face learning in a classroom or outdoor learning environment, using a variety of user-friendly learning styles and activities.
Learning materials
Learners should come dressed appropriately for both indoor and outdoor activities, including comfortable clothing and footwear suitable for movement and outdoor sessions. All other materials, including resources for group activities on sleep hygiene, healthy eating, exercise, and wellbeing, will be provided.
Learner Support
You will receive full support throughout the course, including guidance from tutors, access to learning resources, and regular feedback on your progress. Tutors will provide advice and encouragement during group activities and practical sessions, helping you build confidence and develop new skills. Additional support is available if needed, ensuring you can fully participate, ask questions, and feel supported at every stage of your learning journey.
Course Assessments
You will be assessed through participation in practical activities, group discussions, and personal reflection exercises. Assessment methods include observation, tutor feedback, and contributions to discussions. By the end of the course, you will reflect on your progress, wellbeing, and the strategies you have learned to support sleep, healthy eating, exercise, and self-care in your everyday life.
What can learners do next/progress onto?
Learners can progress onto further courses for the new academic year 2026 - 27. They may also be supported to access the Staffordshire Brokerage Service, linking them to the Open Door programme or the Connect to Work programme to explore work experience, volunteering, training, and employment opportunities.
