Entry requirements
No prior knowledge or experience is required. An interest in crafting is helpful. Learners should be willing to attend all sessions, work towards the course learning aims, and complete a learner journal to reflect on their progress.
Course Content
This course teaches practical crafting skills, including seasonal wreath making, summer crafts, and creating decorations for local villages and May Day celebrations. You will learn how to make handcrafted items to take home too. Sessions are hands-on and supportive, helping you build confidence while developing new skills and connecting with the community.
Learning materials
All materials for the course will be provided, including craft supplies, seasonal decorations, and tools needed for wreath making and other projects. Learners are welcome to bring any personal items they prefer to use. Materials are chosen to ensure everyone can participate comfortably and create beautiful handcrafted items to take home or contribute to community displays.

You will learn through hands-on crafting sessions, alongside guided demonstrations and step-by-step instructions. Classroom-style discussions, group activities, and peer feedback will support creativity, skill-building, and confidence, while enabling you to contribute to community celebrations and charity projects.

You will be assessed through practical tasks, including completing craft projects and participating in group activities. Assessment methods include observation, tutor feedback, and discussion. At the end of the course, you will reflect on your achievements and demonstrate the skills you have developed by creating handcrafted items for community displays or charity projects.
What can learners do next/progress onto?
Learners can progress onto further learning opportunities with UMRA, including animal-based activities, volunteering preparation, and creative writing and journalling. These pathways allow learners to build on their skills and explore new courses in a supportive environment.
