This Way Up
'This Way Up' is an arts programme that allows people to take time out from the routine of their everyday lives and to take part in a regular creative activity.
The programme supports the idea that individuals need to look after themselves and that creative and artistic activity can contribute greatly to an improved sense of wellbeing.
Facilitated by professional artists, it provides safe, non-judgmental and nurturing environments for individuals to access a range of arts and crafts forms, both traditional and more contemporary.
Aimed at those who want to try something new or have had limited access to the arts, the two-hour weekly sessions offer a chance to learn and develop new or existing creative skills.
Using art collections, either in real-life or online, as inspiration for getting started, the activities provide an opportunity for self-expression, for getting together with others and for simply taking pleasure in making and being creative.
"These sessions have been for me inspiring, I can’t explain the ease I have felt and the joy I feel whilst at the sessions".
"I really enjoyed the drawing exercises and working with colours inspired me to take up drawing again".
"I have really enjoyed the sessions and meeting other participants, it’s made me feel uplifted".
