Living Room: Artist Residencies in Care Homes
Staffordshire County's Arts Service have recently been working with Creative Health CIC, Wolverhampton Art Gallery and Staffordshire Association of Registered Care Providers to explore new models to support high quality arts activities for older people in care homes.
Living Room has been developed through consultation with SARCP members and emerged from ideas around creating temporary Pop-Up Artist studios in the lounge or communal living areas of residential homes.
Artist Residencies enable Care Homes to commission professional artists to produce new contemporary artworks during 3-6 month residencies at their care settings. Artists engage staff and residents in the work they are producing while working on the creation of the commissioned piece.
The resulting artwork will form new displays which engage and enrich the living spaces and environments of participating care homes.
