Frequently Asked Questions

You can borrow up to 10 items at once.

Please note: When you download eBooks, eMagazines and eAudiobooks via an app, you will not be able to see them in your library account.

The maximum loan period for eBooks is 21 days, but on some apps you can reduce the loan period, which will free up space in your account to borrow more items.

Please note: Items are not automatically deleted from your download folder. Please delete them once the loan has expired to avoid filling up your device with large files.

eMagazines can be kept forever on your device once downloaded, and will never expire.

You can’t renew an eBook or an eAudiobook. They are set to automatically expire after a certain period of time, but you will be able to borrow them again.

You can use our library computers to preview eBooks. You cannot download full eBooks on them.

Look for the settings button when you’ve opened the eBook. These can be used to enlarge or decrease the text size.

We have over 5000 eBooks and 2000 eAudiobooks available, and some are licenced for individual download (others can be issued to different borrowers simultaneously). If the eBook you want is on loan, you may be able to borrow it in another format.

Check the full library catalogue to see what else is on offer.

This message means that the license for the individual eBook you are trying to access has expired (i.e. it has been downloaded as many times as the license allows). Sometimes there is a short delay while these are deleted from our catalogue, or re-purchased. There is nothing wrong with your library account. Please try a different title.

Your device is not correctly set up with an Adobe digital ID. You cannot set up multiple IDs (ie for multiple users) on the same device. You can either check within one of the apps which ID it is set up with, or delete the app and reinstall it from the beginning.

Your Adobe ID will normally be the email address you used when you first signed up for an Adobe ID. There is also a forgotten password link. If you do not have one you can create one in advance at the Adobe web site.

Please contact us. Tell us which title(s) you are unable to download and the device you are trying to use. It will help us to look into your problem faster.

If you’re having a problem with an app, they usually have a help service for users built in.

  • On Libro, try clicking on ‘info’ and scroll down to ‘Reader Help’

  • On RB Digital, help is at the bottom of the main menu on the left of the screen (click on the 3 horizontal bars).

Yes, you can access the service with a valid library card and Pin from anywhere in the world.

Please be aware that mobile data roaming charges may apply if you download content whilst not connected to a WiFi connection. Please contact your mobile service provider for further details.
