Eligibility for care and support
National eligibility criteria is issued under the Care Act 2014. It is applied to determine whether you are eligible for local authority care and support to meet your assessed needs.
Am I eligible for care?
Three questions will be asked to determine eligibility.
Following your assessment of your care needs we will give you our decision and explain the reasons.
This will let you know if you are eligible to have your needs met by us.
If I am eligible, what happens next?
We will ask you to have a financial assessment. It will see how much your care and support will cost and how much you may have to contribute.
We will then work with you to develop a care and support plan. This sets out how your needs can be best met.
What if I am not eligible?
We can still help you by giving further information and advice about:
If your needs change again in the future and you need further support, you can always ask for further guidance. You can also request another care and support assessment should you need it.
What if I’m not happy with the decision?
