Staffordshire County Council is working with the National Energy System Operator (NESO) to help plan how our region’s energy system will develop in the coming years. NESO is an independent public body responsible for looking across the whole energy system to make sure it remains reliable, affordable and well prepared for the future.
About the Regional Energy Strategic Plan (RESP)
NESO is creating a Regional Energy Strategic Plan (RESP) for every part of Great Britain. These plans will identify what energy infrastructure each area needs to support local communities, businesses and future growth. RESP acts as a bridge between national policy and what happens locally
What this means for Staffordshire
By taking part in RESP workshops, consultations and evidence gathering, SCC is making sure Staffordshire’s needs are fully understood — from housing and employment growth to transport, community priorities and environmental considerations
Our role
We are:
- Representing Staffordshire’s interests in national and regional RESP discussions.
- Providing local insight to ensure plans reflect our towns, rural areas and future development.
- Highlighting environmental, land use and infrastructure considerations important to the county
Why it matters
RESP will help ensure Staffordshire has the right energy infrastructure in the right places to support stable, resilient and affordable energy for residents and businesses in the years ahead.
