Catchment areas explained
All children who live in Staffordshire will reside within a catchment area for transport policy purposes but not all will reside within a catchment for admissions purposes.
If a school is an Academy, Voluntary Aided or Foundation school, it is its own admission authority, and can therefore decide whether to give priority to catchment area children or not.
Currently, there are 12 schools in Staffordshire, who do not give priority to catchment area children. Please note: The schools below will still appear on the postcode search as your catchment school, however, this will only be for transport purposes.
- Erasmus Darwin Academy
- Five Spires Academy
- Heath Hayes Academy
- Henhurst Ridge Primary Academy
- Norton Canes Primary Academy
- Scientia Academy
- Silkmore Primary Academy
- Springhill Primary Academy
- Sun Academy
- The Hart School
- Three Peaks Primary Academy
- Veritas Primary Academy
There is no guaranteed admission to your catchment area school. Allocations will be dependent on the availability of spaces in the relevant year group.
How are catchment areas decided?
Catchment areas are historic and were in the main originally drawn in line with ward boundaries. They are subject to review and may alter from year to year.
Your nearest school may not be your catchment school.
