Admission Arrangements

The admissions arrangements differ depending on the type of school.

Community and Voluntary Controlled Admission Arrangements

If the number of applications for admission to a school exceeds the school's Published Admissions Number (PAN) then the available places for the school are allocated in strict accordance with its oversubscription criteria.

2020-21 Proposed Arrangements - Catchment area and oversubscription criteria changes

Staffordshire County Council is consulting on proposed changes to the catchment area of Paget High School and Paulet High School to take account of new housing developments within the Burton on Trent area and the establishment of the John Taylor Free School.

There is also a proposed change to the admissions oversubscription criteria in accordance with a recommendation from the Department for Education in relation to giving previously looked after children from outside England and Wales second priority for admission in the event that a school receives more applications than has places available.

Please view a full copy of the proposed 2020-21 admission arrangements for further information.

2019-20 Determined Arrangements

Please view the determined 2019-20 admissions arrangements. It includes a list of published admission numbers and a summary of changes made.

You can also view the admissions arrangements for 2018-19.

Nursery School Admissions Arrangements

All schools now manage their own nursery school admissions process.  Therefore, please contact your preferred setting directly for information on admission arrangements for nursery.

Schools which are Academies, Voluntary Aided, Catholic, or Foundation

These schools will have their own oversubscription criteria. The schools use these criteria when allocating places if they are oversubscribed.

You will need to refer to the specific admission arrangements for that school.

Schools maintained by other Local Authorities

You may prefer your child to be admitted to a school maintained by another Local Authority.

If this is the case, details of their admissions arrangements can be obtained by contacting the authority in question.
