Good and Outstanding childcare in Staffordshire
Since 2014, the Staffordshire Think 2 programme has supported over 4,000 children to access 15 hours free childcare. The majority are with ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ rated places.
It is all part of our priority to make sure more children are ready to excel in their school years. More parents can then go back into work or training. We want the very best standards of childcare are readily available across the county.
Example of an outstanding pre-school
Noah’s Ark pre-school in Holmcroft, Stafford provides free funded places. It achieved an ‘Outstanding’ judgement from Ofsted last year. While children are getting good quality early learning, parents can take up training or return to employment.
Michelle Askey is now working in a local school thanks to how well Phoebe is doing at Noah's Ark.
"Phoebe’s talking has come on brilliantly. Her confidence has also really improved. She really has come on leaps and bounds. It really helps her to play with children of her own age in such a great setting."
Michelle has now returned to work in a local school and Phoebe continues to receive a free place. The Think 2 programme ensures that once families get a free place, that place isn’t taken away even if circumstances change.
Michelle said: "Noah’s Ark is rated as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted and that means that they don’t just provide high standards of childcare, but they also work with partners and parents to look at how the learning experience for children and their parents can be improved. I can really see her improvement. Because she’s doing so well, I feel confident going to work.’’
