What every parent needs to know about new school performance measures

Posted on Wednesday 26th July 2017

In 2016, Government introduced a new ‘secondary school accountability system’.

In practice, this means that how well a school supports its pupils and your child’s achievements are being measured and reported in a new way.

The two key measures you need to know about are called Attainment 8 and Progress 8.

Some schools chose to use the new system a year early and have been using it since 2015. In Staffordshire, these schools are:

  • Biddulph High School
  • Cannock Chase High School
  • Cardinal Griffin Catholic College
  • John Taylor High School
  • Paulet High School
  • Tamworth Enterprise College and AET Academy
  • The Rawlett School (An AET Academy)

Other schools started using the new measures in 2016.

We explain what you need to know on our new school performance measures explained page.
