Better Broadband for Staffordshire
In partnership with Stoke on Trent City Council, BDUK and BT, we brought fibre based broadband to 97% of Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent by spring 2016 (roughly 472,000 premises).
95% of homes and businesses can access speeds of 24Mbps or more. For those premises not included in the fibre footprint we are aiming to improve broadband speeds using alternative technologies.
We have invested nearly £8 million. This was match-funded with £7.44 million from BDUK and £12.47million from BT.
Public funds were spent on bringing faster broadband services to areas of the county that were not expected to receive private investment. Many of these areas are rural in nature.
