Public Interest Tests
Under the Freedom of Information Act if any request for information is potentially subject to a conditional exemption we are required to carry out a Public Interest Test (PIT). A Public Interest Panel (PIP) sits to decide whether or not the information should be released.
We publish a summary of PIP meeting considerations and decisions. The PIT 'decision documents' contain details of the request, the conditional exemption, decision making process, the panel's decision, and if the amount of disclosed information is not too large to publish, the information released.
Examples of what we have been asked for including requests we have received that are not subject to an exemption, our response and information we have provided can be seen in our disclosure log.
