Member comments on committee/attendance record

I had a period of absence from council meetings due to major surgery.

Outside body appointments

I was also appointed to represent the county council on the following outside bodies:

  • Landfill, Opencast and Quarry Site Liaison Committee/Group - Barton Quarry
  • Landfill, Opencast and Quarry Site Liaison Committee/Group - Newbold Gravel Pit Liaison Group
  • Yoxall Town Lands Charity

Divisional Activities

My main focus this year relates to a number of issues:

  1. Working with local parish councils to ensure the implementation of the Experimental Road Traffic Orders on the A515 to reduce the volume of HGVs passing through the rural villages.
  2. I have been keen to promote the further roll-out of improved broadband to rural locations and am pleased that Dunstall, Newborough and Hadley End are now online. Woodhouses will also be able to access high-speed broadband.
  3. After raising the problem of the very poor condition of 5 Lanes End Island, repair works will now commence in June 2019.

Member comments on SLCF spend

Helping schemes to encourage people to be more active and enjoy the countryside has many benefits for both mental and physical health.  Access to quality broadband, especially in rural areas is now essential rather than a luxury for both businesses and private individuals.
