Local transport plan policy

Our local transport plan policy document was published in 2011 in accordance with the Local Transport Act 2008 and sets out our transport policies up to 2026.

District integrated transport strategies

Strategies have been published for the eight district and boroughs in Staffordshire and are regularly reviewed. 

The strategies identify the transport solutions that will help to deliver the policies in the local transport plan, our strategic plan, the objectives of the Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire Local Enterprise Partnership and the local plans for each given area.

Rail strategy and high speed rail

A rail strategy has been produced and will be released for consultation. The team responds to national and regional transport matters.

Funding bids

Bids are made to government to help fund the delivery of the district integrated transport strategies. Bids for funding have been made for:

The strategies are also funded through the Local Enterprise Partnerships’s growth deal.  

Infrastructure Development and Improvements

We work with Developers and the Local Planning Authorities through the Local Plan process to make sure that the impacts of major developments on transport are looked into properly. 

The impact of development proposals on the transport network is also addressed by the Infrastructure Development and Improvements team.

Staffordshire County Council's cabinet member for economic growth Mark Winnington said: "The county council did not approve of this proposal due to its location in the South Staffordshire green belt.
