How to travel safely on the bus

Before travelling

  • Don't travel if you, or a member of your household, have coronavirus or flu symptoms, or have tested positive for coronavirus.

  • Consider cycling or walking as an alternative.

  • Time your journeys for quieter, off-peak times if possible.

  • Buy tickets online in advance if possible.

At the bus stop

  • Maintain distance from other waiting passengers, where possible.

On the bus

  • Wearing a face covering is recommended on public transport if it is crowded, you have symptoms or you are at higher risk. Further information is available on the government website.

  • Keep windows open to improve ventilation.

  • Use contactless payment if possible. Some operators are only accepting contactless payment or exact fares, so please check before travelling

  • Wash your hands, or use hand sanitiser, before and after travelling.
