Keep getting jabbed and tested Tamworth people urged

Posted on Monday 19th July 2021

Following a borough-wide push over the weekend, people in Tamworth are being urged to carry on getting vaccinated and tested.

Walk in Covid jabs and extra testing has been available over the last few days and Tamworth residents are being urged to keep this going as case rates rise again.

New vaccination clinics with no booking are available at three sites this week, including a site at Tamworth College today and tomorrow.

Dr Richard Harling, Staffordshire County Council’s Director for Health and Care, said:

“After a small reduction in cases we have seen a further upturn in Tamworth’s numbers. This combined with the relaxing of legal restrictions coming into force today makes it vital people in Tamworth continue to do all they can to limit the spread of the virus.

“This means taking precautions, getting tested and getting vaccinated. We had a big push over the weekend, and we must - there are plenty of vaccination clinics to choose from.

“In terms of testing - people should keep checking the national booking portal website for availability. Although there have been national supply issues reported new slots are being added all the time.”

Jeremy Oates, Leader of Tamworth Borough Council, added:

“It is a concern that rates are heading in the wrong direction, especially after all the hard work that has been put into making extra testing and vaccinations available.

“There is vaccine and testing availability this week, so we need to make a further call for Tamworth residents to do the right thing and to continue to get tested and to get both jabs as soon as you are eligible to do so.”
