The Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent community testing sites in Stoke-on-Trent, Burton and Stafford have been extended for local residents.
The sites have been set up by the county and city council and NHS following a shortage in national testing capacity and are only available for residents of Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent displaying symptoms.
People should try the national system first at www.nhs.uk/coronavirus. If there are no slots available, the community testing sites will be open for bookable test appointments between 9.30am and 3.45pm. Only 200 tests are available each day. Residents are urged not to turn up without an appointment.
Dr Johnny McMahon, Staffordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, Care and Wellbeing, said:
“We will continue to work hard with all our partners to offer the best solution possible locally, to what is proving a challenging picture nationally.
“It is important we strive to get as many people as possible who need a test that opportunity. It is equally critical that county and city residents follow all the national guidelines and correctly self-isolate if they test positive.”
