Work to improve a South Staffordshire road and create access to a new housing development begins next Monday, August 24.

The nine-week scheme will see two new junctions created on Beggars Bush Lane, Wombourne. It will also include widening the road, creating new pavements and a new pedestrian crossing point. Utilities will be installed for the development. The scheme is being funded by the housing developer

For the works to be carried out safely, Beggars Bush Lane will be closed to vehicles throughout the scheme from the A449 junction to the Sytch Lane junction. A signed diversion will be put in place.

Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet member for highways and transport David Williams said:

This scheme is necessary to create access to the new housing development and will also bring long-term improvement to the road, which include widening and better pedestrian safety.

Unfortunately the team will need to close this section of road for the duration of the scheme and a diversion put in place. We’d like to thank people in advance for their patience while work is carried out.”
