Staffordshire County Council’s Highways crews will be taking the opportunity while travel restrictions are in place to carry out investigation and improvement work on Shobnall Road in Burton next week.

The investigation work will start on Monday 4 May and any repairs identified will be carried out later in the month. Temporary traffic lights will be in place to ensure the investigations can be carried out safely, and in line with Government guidance around Coronavirus, crews will be following official advice including social distancing.

Both the investigation work and repairs are being carried out in May when the road will be quieter as a result of the current coronavirus restrictions in place.

Helen Fisher, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport at Staffordshire County Council said:

“Highways crews have identified some minor issues on a small section of the road which they are currently investigating. Once they have identified an appropriate solution, the repairs will be scheduled in as necessary.

“In line with Government advice to help reduce the spread of Coronavirus, crews will be following all the necessary advice including social distancing and staying two metres apart throughout any works.

“I know that the team will be doing their upmost to get the investigation work and the repairs needed done as safely and efficiently as possible and I’d like to thank people in advance for their co-operation.”
